Singapore has a government well known for its efficiency, transparency and commitment to be a partner to the private sector. To develop biomedical sciences as one of its key pillar of growth, several ministries and statutory boards have been working hand in hand.

A*STAR - BMRC (Biomedical Research Council)

The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is the key agency driving the fostering of world-class scientific research and the nurturing of world-class scientific talent for a vibrant knowledge-based Singapore. The Biomedical Research Council (BMRC) was established under A*STAR in October 2000 to oversee and co-ordinate public sector biomedical research and development activities in Singapore.

EDB - BMSG (Biomedical Sciences Group)

The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) is the lead agency that plans and executes strategies to sustain Singapore as a compelling global hub for business and investment. The Biomedical Sciences Group (BMSG) of EDB is responsible for the development of industrial, intellectual and human capital in Singapore, in support of the biomedical sciences.

Health Sciences Authority (HSA)

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) embodies one multidisciplinary agency that administers a seamless regulatory process to the healthcare industry. HSA effectively safeguards public confidence in the quality, safety and efficacy of all health care and blood products in Singapore. It is also the national scientific agency that provides specialised scientific, investigative analytical expertise in Health Sciences to government agencies and corporations.

Intellectual Property Office Singapore (IPOS)

The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) is the government body that develops, reviews and administers intellectual property (IP) laws in Singapore. Besides ensuring a sound IP legal infrastructure that is conducive to trade and investments, it also pro-actively carries out activities to promote awareness of intellectual property rights in Singapore. It also operates two registries to receive and register trademark and patent applications.

Jurong Town Corporation (JTC)

JTC is Singapore's leading master-planner, developer and manager of high quality industrial facilities and business parks. It is also the master developer for one-north at Buona Vista - a 200 hectare development for research and development and entrepreneurial activities. JTC has under its management 38 industrial and specialised parks, including three wafer fab parks, two business parks, a chemicals hub at Jurong Island and a biomedical park in Tuas.

Ministry of Education (MOE)

The Ministry Of Education (MOE) directs the formulation and implementation of education policies. It has control of the development and administration of the Government and Government-aided primary schools, secondary schools and junior colleges. It also supervises private schools. It also sets the overall policy direction for the universities, polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education, the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies and the Singapore Science Centre.

Ministry of Health (MOH)

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is responsible for ensuring that health care in Singapore is characterised by good clinical outcomes and professional standards, and that services delivered are appropriate to each patients' needs. While the Ministry emphasises the principle of co-payment, they also ensure that healthcare remains affordable to Singaporeans.
